We still can have snow in Malaysia, what!

Our ice week came to an end. We ended ice theme week with frozen ice snowman. Or we called it Ice Man! All we needed were three different sizes of ice balls, felt paper and salt. We'd miss our ice week but we'd definitely repeat this theme in near future (in a few days). So enjoy our Ice Man!

 Frozen ice balls

Iris found a perfect sticker for this activity.

We poured some salt to adhere the body to the head.

Iyra cannot resist the temptation to feel the coolness!

Cool isn't it?

"Snowman bukan keras macam ni Mummy. Snow fluffy-lah!" Iris wasn't fully satisfied with our snowman, so Iris, save your money, and have your winter-y vacation.

Iyra cannot tolerate with the face-y ice balls. She kept taking out the eyes, nose and mouth.

See, the snow pouring down in our home, what? Who said we need to wait for winter?

Eco-Friendly Sailing Boats

 Row, row, row your boat,
Gently down the stream,

Ice Ball Art

They were still exploring ice and water last night. They had so much fun this week by freezing the water and had cool ice-y ideas. Last night the girls made cool and heavy ice ball art. They froze the water in the ballons overnight. They used salt and food coloring to make the cool art.

Ice balls, food coloring, and salt.
The frozen ice balls were heavy!
They peeled off the ballons.
They poured the salt directly onto the ice balls.
The ice ball started to crackle and it made the crack crack sound.
Iesha thought there was a small yellow baby chick in the ice ball.
They dropped food coloring onto the ice ball.
They were very generous with the food coloring.
Look how 'cool' these look?

Egg Carton Caterpillar

Okay, this was a year ago. Oh, how times fly! But I share it anyway, for the purpose of memory and sharing. We love 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' and for that reason, we came out with this enjoyable activity; the egg carton caterpillar! All we needed were egg carton, paint in green and pink, paintbrush, pear, apple (or any foodstuffs that the caterpillar had eaten on the book), and creativity.
Things we needed

We colored the body green.

We colored the head pink.

We glued the eyes, nose and tentacles on the pink head.

We bit the pear.

And we shared it with our caterpillars.

Read aloud: The Very Hungry Caterpillar

We love this book very much (OK, who doesn't?). We even memorized the first line, "In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf." The book shows a small caterpillar who eats variety of foods before turns into a beautiful butterfly! It is a simple and interesting story by Eric Carle. Well, this is apparently a must-have in every home library!

Ice Painting

Ice painting could be a very messy fun bath time activity for the kids. The night before the fun, prepare the ice cubes. Mixed the water with food coloring and set them in the freezer overnight. When the kids ready, take out the colored ice cubes and let them paint!

We have green, orange, red and blue ice paint!

The girls loved the heart shaped ice the most!

Messy ice-y painting!

So much fun!

Doily Paper Flower

They were still in the mood of anything flower. So they have made up this last week.

Iris Book of Art

Iris loves to draw. She has made her own book of art. Let's look at her drawings and the descriptions given by her.
