Fizzy Bubbly Pop!

What we wonder?
What happens if we add baking soda with vinegar?

What we need?
Clear cups
Vinegar
Baking soda
Food coloring
Spoons

What we need to do?

1. Put food coloring with baking soda onto the spoons.

2. Pour the vinegar into the cups.

3. Pick a spoon and drop the baking soda into the cup.  Stir a bit.

Results:
It bubbled and fizzed! And popped!

What actually happened?
Baking soda and the vinegar create an acid-base reaction and the two chemicals work together to create a carbon dioxide gas.
